Apple OSX hot-key cheat sheet.

While most think of Apple’s OSX operating system being all graphical and mouse driven keyboard shortcuts still abound and make our computing lives much easier.

The keyboard on Apple iMac’s are different than systems that run Microsoft Windows so I made myself a hot-key cheat sheet and thought I would share with my readers.

Common Tasks:

Cmd-C Copy files

Cmd-V Paste files

Option-Drag Copy files to new location

Cmd-Drag Move and auto-align icons

Cmd-Delete Delete

Cmd-Option-Drag Make alias

Cmd-Shift-Delete Empty trash

Cmd-Shift-Option-Delete Empty trash without warning

Print Screen:

Cmd-Shift-3 Take snapshot of the whole screen

Cmd-Shift-4 Take snapshot of the selected area

Cmd-Shift-4-Spacebar Take picture of a window

System Freeze:

Cmd-Period[.] Stop process

Cmd-Option-Escape Open Force Quit

Cmd-Option-Shift-Power Key Force shut down

Cmd-Control-Power Key Force restart

For more information or if you are here and use Microsoft Windows see the following.
